Our Vision

The Edinburgh Community Concept truly is  “traditional-style living”. This residential neighborhood encompasses many sustainable features and amenities that are not found in most communities today. “Traditional Style Living” is a concept created by Edinburgh Group. Their goal is to bring the residents of the community together by offering a variety of environments that most people drive to with their family and friends.  Edinburgh was strategically designed to offer neighbors the ability to interact with each other during their recreational experiences within the community.

At Edinburgh, you will find fishing lakes, a swimming pool, nature trails, a park like atmosphere, and much more. The Edinburgh Group donated a large piece of the property to the City of Kingsport to build the new John Adams Elementary School, which opened in August of 2009 and is now Kingsport’s newest elementary school in over 50 years!

Meet the Developer

The Edinburgh Group believes that one of the secrets to success in real estate development is that each development receives an attention to detail that produces truly individual homes and inspired natural settings.

The Edinburgh Group is a family-owned company, formed by brothers Danny and Darin Karst.

Dan Karst explained: “We have no aspiration to do anything other than produce projects of the highest craftsmanship.”

The Karsts lavish time and attention on the details that matter in residential development.

“This applies from the very start of the development process, ensuring designs are original and fit into the locality and doesn’t stop until the keys are handed over to another delighted customer.”

Back in the late 1990s it would have seemed unlikely that the Rock Springs area would see a development with the new homes of the quality being seen today in Edinburgh. To start a new development in the current economic times could be considered risky, but Darin Karst says it proves how strongly his family feels about  Kingsport and the Rock Springs Community.

Within a few years, Edinburgh hopes to help break the mold of cookie cutter new home- building in the region. The company is determined to extend their particular brand of craftsman-built neighborhoods to South Edinburgh, one mile past John Adams Elementary, where the starting prices will be as low as $139,000. This will be the company’s first venture into starter home site development, but Darin Karst stresses that each house will benefit from the same individuality and quality, but bringing the “Edinburgh approach” within the grasp of a larger pool of homebuyers. Karst points out all home builders in South Edinburgh will go through the exact same vetting process as Edinburgh.

While acknowledging these “difficult times”, Danny Karst believes there are still many prospective buyers around and that people are increasingly looking for value but are happy to pay for the quality and an individual approach. “There is no question buyers have became more savvy during this time, but many point to the historically low interest rates as now or never in regards to new home purchases”, says Karst.
